Firefighters tackle blaze at Tenterden chip shop

Firefighters battled a blaze at a fish and chip shop on the Ashford Road, St Michael's, near Tenterden.

The fire started just after 9pm on Wednesday. Crews from Tenterden, Ashford and Cranbrook used two hose reels and six units of breathing apparatus to tackle the fire at the shop, which forms part of a retail unit close to Homewood School.

According to the service, the fire, which caused about 20 per cent damage, was accidental.

No one was hurt. The fire was out by 10.51pm.
