A famous father is to step into the breach to replace his sick daughter at a music concert.

Singer and fiddle player Eliza Carthy was due to perform on Friday at Ashford’s Norton Knatchbull School as a part of the Equator music series.

Unfortunately Eliza has had to cancel her whole tour due to severe throat problems.

But her father Martin Carthy, a figurehead of English folk music, will take her place on stage.

For more than 40 years Martin has been one of folk music’s greatest innovators and is a renowned ballad singer and acoustic and electric-guitarist.

Tickets for the Eliza Carthy event can be used for entry to see Martin Carthy. A refund is available if preferred via the route of booking (Ashford Tourist Information Centre or email shivanova@aol.com if booked via ShivaNova).
