Funeral of murdered Melanie Hall to be held in Bath

The funeral of murdered teenager Melanie Hall is to be held in the town where she disappeared.

Miss Hall, originally from Brabourne Lees near Ashford, went missing more than a decade ago after a night out in Bath in 1996.

Bones identified as being those of Miss Hall, 25, were found in a bag by a workman on a verge near the M5, north of Bristol in October.

Miss Hall was originally from Brabourne Lees but moved to the South-West in the early 1990’s for university and to be nearer family.

Her funeral will be held in Bath on Friday, December 11.

A statement from her family said: “We would like to thank everyone for their kindness and support since the disappearance of Melanie thirteen years ago and for the many messages of sympathy during the last few weeks.

"On Friday December 11, we will be holding a funeral service to say goodbye to Melanie. This will be held in Bath Abbey at 2.30pm. We extend a warm welcome to you all.”

The family have asked people not to bring flowers but to donate to the Forever Friends 'Space to Grow’ campaign at the Royal United Hospital Bath c/o Mannings Funeral Directors, 106 North Road, Combe Down, Bath BA2 5DJ Tel: 01225 833013.
