Hog roast goes up in flames

A pig has caught alight this afternoon (Saturday) at a wedding reception in Bethersden.

Firefighters from Ashford were called to the scene in Ball Lane after a hog roast went up in flames after it was left unattended.

The crew had to secure the supply as the barbecue fed directly from the gas.

The incident happened at about 2pm.

Firefighters are reminding anyone who has a barbecue to ensure it was well away from sheds, fences and overhanging branches and other foliage.
