The opening of Ashford’s ice rink at Charter House has been delayed as vital pipe work was damaged in transit.

The rink, housed in a white tent and with the capacity for 120 skaters, was due to open for the first time on Friday evening and from 10am-10pm on Saturday and Sunday.

Organisers hope the rink will open in the next day or so and say the other attractions of a fair and amusements are open.

The ice rink is one of several events organised by the Ashford Town Centre Partnership.

The Ashford Winter Festival which takes place on Friday, November 27 and Saturday, November 28 has been set up by the Partnership to encourage shoppers to choose Ashford as a place to do their Christmas shopping.
