Dale Brothers lorry drivers will be disciplined after M20 junction 9 slip road trailer swap

Two lorry drivers who dangerously swapped their trailers on a motorway slip road will face disciplinary action.

Witnesses watched in disbelief as the drivers pulled over on the M20 junction 9 slip road yesterday and even reversed down the busy lanes to switch their trailers.

Both lorries belong to Dale Brothers UK, a transport company based in Telford, Shropshire, which operates 65 HGVs.

Phil Jones, transport manager at the company, said: "It was a total shock to us when we learnt of what took place, this incident is far from a true reflection on our company. We pride ourselves on compliance and traffic laws.

"I cannot explain why these drivers performed this foolish act, but rest assured this matter will be dealt with and the two individuals disciplined for their actions.

"I can only apologies for what took place and grateful that nothing serious happened during this manoeuvre and no one got hurt."

Andy Clark, who witnessed the incident, said: "It was unbelievably dangerous. People wonder why there are so many tragedies on our roads. The parking is a nightmare but this was just ridiculous."

Kent Police have been contacted for a comment.
