Three injured in lorry pile-up on M20 near Ashford

Three people have been taken to hospital after three lorries, a van, campervan and car crashed on the M20 near Ashford last night.

Two men and a woman were injured after the pile-up on the London-bound carriageway between J10 and J11.

Emergency services, including the air ambulance, were called after the crash at about 9.50pm.

Fire crews from Folkestone, Canterbury and Ashford were at the scene for around an hour-and-a-half.

A Dutch couple, who were in the campervan, were treated at the scene and taken to hospital.

Fire crews had to rescue a male driver, who was trapped in the delivery van - he was also taken to hospital with suspected arm and leg injuries.

Watch manager Andy Batchelor, from Folkestone, said: "On a busy day for the emergency services in Kent, this was another example of everyone working well together."

The motorway was closed and traffic diverted off at J11 onto the A20 with the help of Highways Agency staff.

Kent Police said the road was reopened by 4am.
