Ashford Road crash: Firefighters rescue driver after car ends up in water filled ditch

A man was rescued from his van last night after it ended up in a ditch.

Fire crews and paramedics were called to Ashford Road near Kingsnorth at 11.30pm following reports a van had left the road, spun and ended up in a water filled ditch.

The driver, a man in his 30s, was trapped and crews had to cut the roof of the small van off in order to get the man out.

He suffered back pain and was taken to hospital as a precaution.

The road was closed while emergency services were at the scene and it re-opened at 1am.
