Rush-hour crash on the A28 near High Halden

A man was taken to hospital after a rush- hour crash involving a lorry and a car on a major route.

The collision happened just after 9am today on the A28 between High Halden and Bethersden and the road was closed for two hours according to traffic information site Inrix.

Inrix also reported long queues at the time of the incident.

An injured man was sent to local hospital, but it is understood that his injuries are not life-threatening.

A police spokesman said: “We were called to a report of a collision involving a car and a lorry on the A28 Ashford Road near High Halden at 9.08am today.

“Officers attended along with Kent Fire and Rescue Service and South East Coast Ambulance Service and a man was taken to a local hospital.”
