BBC One MasterChef finalist Delia-Maria Asser from Ashford plans to release cookbook

A MasterChef finalist from Kent says she plans to release a cookbook.

Delia-Maria Asser from Ashford revealed her future plans to Garry and Laura on kmfm's Breakfast show this morning.

The 28-year-old, who made it to the final on the BBC One culinary show, says that it has been a "lifelong dream" to release a cookbook alongside this year's winner Irini Tzortzoglou and fellow finalist Jilly McCord.

She told kmfm: "I've had a lifelong dream to release a cookbook and I think that will be next on my list to get one together.

"Irini, Jilly and I would love to do something together. We've had a few requests from loads of different people saying we'd love a spin off, so we will see where that leads."

Delia, who works for Kent Police, was praised by judges for her dishes in the final on Friday.

She prepared prawn bisque risotto to start, rabbit with quince as a main course and goats' cheese and vanilla pannacotta for dessert but was beaten by winner Irini Tzortzoglou.

Speaking to KentOnline ahead of her television appearances, the amateur cook said she first applied to the show a few years ago: "Last year, it just felt like the right time.

"I’d always said I would go on MasterChef one day and when I reapplied and found out I got on, I was over the moon.

"I started cooking when I was very young, maybe seven or eight years old. I started by baking and making cakes but then went on to making packed lunches for me and my sister and dinner for my family.

"I love buying ingredients I haven’t worked with before and developing flavour combinations and new techniques. MasterChef has been the best thing I have ever done."
