New traffic lights cause delays at Ashford's Drovers roundabout

Traffic lights at the new Drovers Roundabout have been causing lengthy tailbacks.

The lights, turned on yesterday, have left motorists travelling from the A28 Chart Road direction facing queues on Templer Way. Some commuters said traffic stretched right down to the Tank Roundabout before rush hour.

Driver Alan Standing, of Godinton Park, said: "Congestion was already backed up to the TA Centre at 4pm.

"What will it be like at rush hour? Why have they put lights in - it used to flow nicely."

A Kent County Council spokesman said the lights had been turned on early because people were driving around the roundabout too fast and there were concerns that someone would crash.
