Peugeot driver Dale West, 19, dies in A20 crash near Folkestone

A 19-year-old killed in a car crash last night has been named as Dale West.

The victim’s car smashed with a parked lorry on the A20 near Thorn Wood, Sandling area, at 11.10pm.

A Kent Police spokesman said: “A silver Peugeot 106 travelling from the Folkestone direction lost control and was involved in a collision with a lorry parked in a layby on the opposite carriageway.”

Mr West, who was from the Folkestone area, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The young woman who was also in the car was taken to the William Harvey Hospital in Ashford with minor injuries.

The lorry driver was unhurt.

The A20 was closed for several hours while emergency services dealt with the incident.

Police now want to speak to anyone who witnessed the car being driven just before or at the moment of the crash.
