Police are appealing for witnesses following a sexual assault in Ashford.

It happened between 4.45pm and 5.15pm on Tuesday on a footpath at Lodge Wood Drive, on the Orchard Heights estate.

The 20-year-old female victim was approached from behind and sexually assaulted.

The offender ran off when the woman screamed.

Police are linking the attack to an incident at Singleton Lake on November 9 when an 18-year-old female was approached from behind, forced to the floor and sexually assaulted.

The 20-year-old victim described the offender as a white male, aged in his thirties, stocky build and clean shaven.

He was wearing large tinted glasses, what the victim describes as a fisherman's style hat, a brown padded jacket, dark jeans and dark footwear.

Det Insp Angie Hobbs said: "We would like to remind people that they should always think about their personal safety. Dark, unlit alleyways or footpaths should be avoided when it is dark and it is safer to walk with someone than alone."

Witnesses and anyone who might have information are asked to phone police on 01622 690690.
