Families came together to celebrate and remember loved ones with a special ceremony at Ashford’s Homelands stadium.
Organised by the Pilgrims Hospice to raise much-needed funds, the ceremony saw 1,800 candles burn out the words 'A Life in Lights’ on the football pitch.
As the light pierced the night’s sky, a specially-written song entitled, We Light a Light, written by Ashford Sings choir leader Chris Kimmance was performed by the choir.
Music was also provided by the Invicta Band to entertain the 300-strong crowd.
Poetry readings were given including one written by a former patient Stevie Reeve, which was performed by nine-year-old Ella Burberry, whose mother works at the hospice.
The event, which included a minute’s silence to remember those gone but not forgotten, was compered by kmfm DJ John 'Webbo’ Webster.
Money continues to be counted and has so far topped £6,500, with more still coming in.
