The Kent County Council community warden for five Ashford villages who was dismissed for being “too challenging” has been told by his former bosses he does not have a grievance case against them so will not get his old job back.

Bob Hughes covered Sevington, Smeeth, Mersham, Brabourne and Aldington, met with his former bosses recently.

He has now received a letter from KCC saying he does not have a case.

Mr Hughes, who was in the Metropolitan Police for 33 years rising to the rank of inspector, had taken out a grievance procedure against KCC after he was told he no longer had a job as community warden.

Since he was dismissed at the end of August there has been an outcry in the villages from people who were appalled to lose their much-loved warden.
