Ashford: Fire crews stop washing machine blaze from spreading to salon

Firefighters stopped a washing machine blaze from spreading to a hairdressers.

Crews were called at about 2pm to Loudon Way on Godinton Park in Ashford.

The washing machine had caught alight in a garage attached to the Dontev Hair Salon.

Crews in breathing apparatus used fogspike, a thermal imaging camera and a positive pressure ventilation fan to put the fire out.

They left the scene just before 2.30pm.

Onlooker Ben Reed Roberts said: "When firemen arrived they handled the situation very well and everything was OK."
