Shocking video shows dangerous driving through Junction 10a roadworks on the A20

Shocking footage has emerged of a driver jumping a red light on the wrong side of the road.

The dashcam video, which shows a VW pickup speeding up to overtake a number of vehicles before passing through temporary traffic lights, was captured on the A20 in Ashford.

Mum-of-three Susie Dryden was travelling home after dropping her son off at school when she witnessed the incident at the Junction 10a construction site.

Her five-month-old daughter and three-year-old son were also in the car at the time of the incident, which happened last Tuesday at about 9am.

Mrs Dryden, 36, said: "I was slowly moving down towards the lights as they had started to turn red.

"All of a sudden I noticed this big car come out of nowhere and overtake us all.

"It sped past us all so it could get through the lights as they had already turned red."

Highway bosses have reduced part of the A20 to one lane while work is carried out to build Junction 10a.

The footage was captured on a recently opened stretch of the A20, close to the former Wyevale Garden Centre site, where the temporary traffic lights have been installed.

The speed limit is 30mph.

Mrs Dryden, who lives in Hythe Road, added: "I get annoyed by these traffic lights, I use the road twice a day and it can take me ages.

"We have all got places to be and I know they're frustrating but it is something that you have to do."

The incident has not been reported to the police.
