Stabbing at fast food restaurant in Ashford

A man has been arrested for attempted murder after a stabbing in a fish and chip shop.

A member of staff at The Cod Father takeaway in Lower High Street, Ashford, was rushed to hospital after being stabbed in the chest at just after 11.30pm last night.

The staff member had been involved in a row with a man who reached over the counter and stabbed him.

Afterwards the suspect ran off towards the top of the town. Police officers searched the area and a 25-year-old man was arrested at 2am on suspicion of attempted murder.

He is still in custody but no charges have yet been made. The victim was taken to the William Harvey Hospital where his injuries are said to be serious but not life threatening.

Police are not linking the incident to the fatal stabbing in Folkestone on Monday.
