The 36-year-old, of Simons Avenue, has since been charged with racially aggravated assault in relation to the disturbance.

He is also accused of assaulting a police officer who was called to respond to the incident and of causing criminal damage to a police van.

DI Matthew Smith said: "Kent Police will not tolerate assaults on our officers or on staff of partner agencies such as the NHS.

"We will thoroughly investigate reports of any such offences and do everything we can to bring those suspected of being responsible before the courts."

Milburn appeared before Medway Magistrates' Court earlier today and was remanded in custody to appear before Folkestone Magistrates’ Court on Thursday.
