Police have swooped following complaints of a suspected drug dealer operating near Ashford's Norton Knatchbull School.

Cannabis was seized in a raid on an address in Ashford on Tuesday and one man has been arrested.

A South Kent Police spokesman said: "Kent Police in Ashford have been responding to complaints from local residents and staff at Norton Knatchbull School about a man thought to be dealing drugs in the area."

But police have said there is no information that drugs were being sold to schoolchildren.

Offices carried out a search warrant under the Misuse of Drugs Act at an address in Gordon Close, Ashford.

Police say that during the raid they found a quantity of herbal cannabis which had been packaged in preparation to be supplied.

They also found a "substantial" amount of cash and suspected stolen clothing.

A 22-year-old man was arrested and was placed in custody at Ashford Police Station.
