Teen, 14, arrested and in custody after 52 wraps of suspected class A drugs found in Victoria Park, Ashford

A teenager has been arrested after 52 wraps of suspected class A drugs were found in a park.

Officers in Ashford searched a group of young people in Victoria Park just before 6pm yesterday after receiving reports of drug dealing in the area.

They were found along with a small knife and seized by patrols.

A 14-year-old boy from London was arrested on suspicion of the possession of controlled drugs with intent to supply.

He remains in police custody whilst inquiries continue.

Beat officer, PC Josh Wheatley, said: “The misuse of drugs can cause misery to people’s lives and as well as disrupting drug supply, we work with partner agencies to identify young vulnerable people and divert them away from criminality.

“We will continue to work hard on education and intervention as well as removing drugs from Kent’s streets.

“Anyone who suspects drug dealing is taking place should report incidents to us, either online or by approaching one of your local officers.”
