Teenage car driver dies after crash

A YOUNG car driver has died in hospital from his injuries five days after he was involved in a road accident.

The 18-year-old was at the wheel of a blue Fiat Siecento on Wednesday of last week when it crashed in Fougeres Way, Ashford.

He was taken to Ashford's William Harvey Hospital but later transferred to Kings College Hospital in London where he died. He had suffered serious head injuries.

Police said he came from the Ashford area but he has not yet been named. An inquest will be held.

The accident happened on a roundabout beneath junction 9 of the M20 motorway. It is understood no other vehicle was involved.
