Further details have emerged about a crash in which two people died on New Year’s Eve.

Police have now revealed that the two men who died had been in an estate car pulling out of a garage forecourt when it crashed with a van.

The accident happened at 5.10pm on the A20 at Hothfield, near the Woolpack pub and restaurant.

The victims were in a red Peugeot 306 estate pulling out of the Esso forecourt and turning right towards Ashford when it was in collision with a silver Volkswagen Transporter going London-bound.

Those in the van were a woman who suffered a head injury and two men who suffered cuts and whiplash.

None of their injuries were life threatening.

The road was closed until midnight while police crash investigators searched for clues and the vehicles were recovered.

The two men killed have not yet been named.

Kent Police spokesman Jo Robertson said: "We are continuing to appeal for witnesses.

"Anyone with any information is asked to call Kent Police’s serious collision investigation unit."

Witnesses should call officers on 01622 798538.
