Three fire engines and a vehicle capable of carrying large amounts of water rushed to the scene shortly before 4pm on Sunday.

Aerial photos show the hay barn engulfed by flames, with the corrugated-iron roof collapsed.

One fire engine remains at the scene, where crews are keeping an eye out to ensure there are no further hot spots.

Advice to keep windows and doors closed has now been lifted.

A Kent Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “People living near to Plurenden Lane in High Halden, Ashford, are no longer advised to close windows and doors.
