Young star Connor Morris hopes to make his debut for England Under-16s

Footballer Connor Morris is in line to make his England debut tomorrow (Friday) when the under-16s take on Northern Ireland in the first game of the Sky Sports Victory Shield at the Ballymena Showgrounds.

The 15-year-old, from Kennington, near Ashford, is a Charlton Athletic Academy player and was called up to the 18-man squad on September 15, after impressing at a 40-player trial earlier in the year.

Equally adept in both defence and midfield, Morris will be hoping to make his mark in front of the television cameras in Northern Ireland, before games against Wales (October 31) and Scotland (November 29).

Connor hopes it is a major stepping stone in his ambition to make it as a full professional.

He can be sure of some local support as mum and dad Sally and Winston are travelling to Ireland to enjoy his big day.
