ASHFORD TOWN have announced that Tim Thorogood has stepped down from his position as joint-manager.

Chief executive Mark Jenner told the club's website that Thorogood, who has managed the side since March 2001, leaves the post "with immediate effect".

Mr Jenner said Thorogood could no longer devote sufficient time to the job due to his own business commitments.

However, he will continue as chairman and has taken on the role of director of football.

John Cumberbatch will take sole charge of first team affairs at Homelands.
