A 65-year-old cyclist has died in a crash near Bexley.

The man was involved in a collision with a van on Bourne Road, near Hall Place and the A2, at around 8am.

An ambulance crew was sent and two medics arrived in cars, the first in four minutes. An air ambulance also attended.

But the cyclist, a 65-year-old man died at the scene.

His next of kin has been informed.

Police say no arrests have been made at this stage but are appealing for witnesses to the crash.

Traffic was reported to be queueing at the A2 Black Prince Roundabout exit this morning and the A223 Southwold Road remains shut in both directions.

Bus routes 132, 229, 669 and the B12 are currently on diversion, as is the 492 towards Bluewater Shopping Centre.

A spokesman for the London Ambulance Service said: "We were called at 7.59am this morning to reports of a road traffic collision on Bourne Road, Bexley.

"We sent an ambulance crew, two medics in cars and an incident response officer.

"We also dispatched London's Air Ambulance. The first of our medics were at the scene in four minutes. Sadly, a man died at the scene."
