Blaze destroys special school classroom

A MOBILE classroom at a special school in a Kent city has been destroyed by fire.

Two youths, aged 16 and 17 and both from the Faversham area, have been arrested on suspicion of breaking into the building at the Orchard School at Canterbury and setting fire to it at about 10.30pm last night.

Firefighters spent 45 minutes dealing with the blaze and police are investigating. Children were told not to come in today.

Nikki Mason, the school's head, said it appeared that a computer had been stolen and that the intruders had tried to break into another mobile.

She said: "This classroom was used for a variety of different reasons and we didn't want the children to come into school because some of their work was in there and we didn't want them getting distressed."
