The Archbishop of Canterbury wore a denim Bon Jovi apron as he served lunch at a homelessness charity.

Justin Welby protected his clerical collar with the pinny, which featured the rock band’s’ winged emblem, as helped out at Catching Lives in Canterbury.

Just two days ago he had crowned King Charles III at Westminster Abbey.

Today, at the end of the coronation Bank Holiday weekend, he and his wife Caroline handed over plates of cottage pie in the charity’s kitchen.

Today is a national volunteering drive called the Big Help Out, which the Archbishop was contributing to, and he is a patron of Catching Lives,

A Lambeth Palace spokesperson said: “We are delighted with the enthusiasm and support for King Charles III and Queen Camilla’s coronation – at Westminster Abbey, up and down the country and around the world – as we marked this historic moment in our national life.

“We give thanks for a beautiful service that was both sacred and solemn, joyful and inspiring, and suffused with the love of God.”

The spokesperson added that the archbishop and bishops “loved” spending time with communities at the Big Lunch and the Big Help Out, with the events inspired by the coronation’s themes of unity and loving service.

Bon Jovi are an American rock band who shot to fame on the 1980s and theire greatest hits include Livin’ On a Prayer.
