Canterbury man bailed following armed police incident on housing estate

A Canterbury man has been bailed by police following an incident in Canterbury on Wednesday afternoon.

Armed officers were called to a housing estate after calls two men had been seen with a gun.

An air weapon was subsequently recovered.

The man was arrested on suspicion of being in possession of a prohibited weapon, which is now being examined by experts.

Tennyson Avenue, off Sturry Road, was sealed off shortly after 1pm and the 26-year-old man was arrested for possession of a prohibited weapon.

He has been bailed until Monday, March 1.

No shots were fired during the incident.
