Faversham Town head into games at Corinthian Casuals and Bognor Regis in high spirits after win over Maidstone United

Faversham Town take to the road in high spirits this week after beating leaders Maidstone at Salters Lane on Tuesday night.

Boss Ray Turner hailed the 2-1 derby win as one of the club’s best results since reforming.

It comes ahead of a tricky Ryman League, Division 1 South week for Turner’s men as they travel to ninth-place Corinthian Casuals on Saturday and second-placed Bognor on Tuesday.

Turner said: "We’ve come a long way in a short space of time. We didn’t just compete with Maidstone, we deservedly beat them.

"It was a great night for everyone and was arguably one of the biggest wins for the club since reforming.

"We can’t go into those two away games in better spirits now."

Adrian Stone and Justin Ascheri scored to put the Lilywhites ahead against the Stones, who replied with nine minutes left.

That win came after Turner had seen his side pay the price for missing several chances against Ramsgate.

Striker Danny Hockton netted twice to open his account for the side but he and James Peacock both missed a penalty and the Rams won 3-2.

"I couldn’t see them getting a draw from the game, let alone nicking all three points," added Turner.

"We played some great football but it was a lesson learnt as we didn’t put the game to bed."

Lee Shearer and Damian Abel have left the club to link up with former manager Justin Luchford at Whitstable.

Captain Tom Hickman has, however, turned down an approach from Luchford.

"He has made it clear he is going nowhere," added Turner.
