Faversham Town manager Ray Turner wants players to put cup tie talk on hold

Faversham manager Ray Turner has told his side to forget about facing Margate in the FA Cup and concentrate on the league.

It’s easier said than done since Town’s squad features Gate old boys Aaron Lacy, Wayne Wilson, Adrian Stone, Simon Overland, Danny Hockton and Aidan Sherlock.

Plus, Turner admits the first qualifying round tie at Salters Lane on Saturday, September 8 will be one of the club’s biggest games since reforming.

But the boss, pictured, is desperate to build on Town’s impressive 2-1 Ryman League Division 1 South win at Tooting & Mitcham on Bank Holiday Monday with another three points from their home match against Walton & Hersham on Saturday (3pm).

He said: "Margate is a massive game and it’s funny how the cup throws up these little coincidences of players facing their old club.

"It’s one to look forward to but we can’t think about it until after Saturday. Walton & Hersham is a huge game and it’s important we follow up the win at Tooting."
