Faversham Town boss Ray Turner is considering adding a couple of players to his squad before the start of the Ryman League, Division 1 South season in two weeks’ time.

Turner is still in the market for another striker and also has injury doubts about central defenders Matt Bourne (pictured), Ashley Brown and Michael Dodsworth.

He said: "It’s no secret I have been looking for another frontman and I might look to bring in some defensive cover. This is always a fairly critical stage when players find out whether clubs are keeping them on. It’s important I keep my ear to the ground and see who becomes available."

One striker Turner won’t be signing is Nigerian Joe Afusi, who joined Ramsgate this week.

Bourne missed the end of last season with a groin injury and Turner has taken no chances with him so far.

"Matt has played 45 minutes of every pre-season game so far, but we haven’t pushed him too much," Turner said.

Faversham drew 0-0 with a Gillingham Xl in front of a crowd of more than 800 at Salters Lane last Thursday and Turner is expecting another strong test when Faversham travel to Margate on Saturday (3pm). They then visit Homelands to face re-formed Ashford United on Tuesday (7.45pm).
