Canterbury Cathedral is the star of an eight-part documentary

THE first in an eight-part television series which gives a fascinating insight behind the scenes of Canterbury Cathedral is being screened on Sunday.

The fly-on-the-wall style documentary, simply called Cathedral, has been produced by film-maker, Peter Williams from Boughton.

It is being shown at 12.05pm on ITV and then repeated at midnight. Mr Williams says it was a huge privilege to be granted open access to one of the country’s most renowned and respected establishments.

He said: "The first programme is called Christmas is Coming and we see many informal moments, like the choir boys opening their Christmas presents and the Archbishop, Dr Rowan Williams at home with his family on Christmas Day."
