Four men to stand trial over alleged murder of Guy Levy in Canterbury car park

Four men are expected to go on trial later this year accused of murdering a 51-year-old in a car park in Canterbury.

Guy Levy, who was also known as Guy Malbec, was found to have suffered serious injuries in the multi-storey in Castle Street last Monday, and confirmed dead at the scene.

Today, three of the accused appeared at Maidstone Crown Court charged with murdering Mr Levy.

Gavin Houghton, 49, and Airidas Sakalauskas, 21, both of Old Dover Road, Canterbury, and Sobantu Sibanda, 27, of Albert Street, Whitstable, offered no pleas to the charge.

A bail application on behalf of Sakalauskas was rejected by Judge Julian Smith and all three were remanded in custody until May, when a plea and trial preparation hearing will be held at Canterbury Crown Court.

A fourth man is expected to appear at Maidstone Crown Court tomorrow, also charged with murder.

Keith Hall, 50, of Athelstan Road, Thanington, was arrested on Thursday and charged on Saturday.

An investigation by the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate was launched after police were called to the car park at about 1.45pm last Monday.

The victim is believed to have died in the early hours of Sunday.

The trial, which is expected to last four weeks, has been scheduled to start on October 9 at Canterbury Crown Court.
