Canterbury kitchen firm creates John Lewis style video to help Catching Lives charity for the homeless

A city business has created a touching Christmas video to help raise money for the homeless in Canterbury.

The polished production tells the story of a homeless man being helped by a little girl and her family in the city centre.

It is the idea of Herringbone Kitchens in Canterbury which is trying to raise £15,000 to help fund the winter night shelter run by Catching Lives. And it features one of the charity's trustees James Duff as the homeless man and customers of the business as the family.

Herringbone Kitchens, who are based in Palace Street, commissioned Red Cape Productions from Birchington to make the two minute 43 second film called 'Together We Can'.

The company's founder and director, William Durrant said: "What this charity does, sees and achieves is extraordinary and we are proud to be able to help them.

"We really want to encourage businesses and the public to donate time and money to help those who are struggling.

"As a company, every few months the team volunteers and cook meals for Catching Lives. We thought this Christmas would be a great opportunity to highlight the important work that Catching Lives do and help raise money for the winter shelter."

Charity Trustee James knows all to well what it's like to have to sleep on the streets, which he did for two years before getting help from Catching Lives and turning his life around.

"We are so grateful to Herringbone Kitchens and our community for helping us spread the word and financially supporting us.

"It's special to me because I was homeless and know the struggle people go through at this time of year."
