The New Dover Road, Canterbury, was closed in both directions on Friday evening after an incident involving two vehicles and a number of pedestrians.

A man and a woman were injured outside of the Blockbuster Shop and taken to the QEQM Hospital in Margate to receive treatment for broken bones.

It is not known if the pair were pedestrians or in the vehicles.

Both ambulance crews and police were called to the scene at around 4.05pm.

Officers were redirecting traffic towards Upper Chantry Lane and the road was reopened for several hours.
