Jekyll and Hyde form continues to frustrate Faversham Town manager Ray Turner

Faversham manager Ray Turner again bemoaned his side’s inconsistency after Saturday’s home defeat by Hythe Town.

It came four days after a 4-0 home victory over Sittingbourne, which had lifted the Lilywhites into the Ryman League, Division 1 South top 10 for the first time this season.

But they slipped back out again to 12th after the 3-1 loss to Hythe and Turner, pictured, admitted: "We have not been able to get any consistency.

"We are able to compete with anybody on our day but equally we are not doing it regularly enough on a week-in, week-out basis to stay in the top 10.

"I can’t be too unhappy in a general sense but it’s frustrating not being able to kick on. Every time we get a good result we aren’t able to back it up with another one."

Faversham’s goal came from a 26th-minute header by Danny Hockton, but the striker had to go off shortly before half-time because of a recurring hamstring injury.

Turner explained: "Danny is struggling with that at the moment and so we might have to leave him out for a bit because we want to do the right thing by him in the long term."

Faversham, who were without a game on Bank Holiday Monday, travel to Merstham on Saturday and victory for Turner’s men would see them move above their Surrey opposition.
