Joe Scott, 33, from Canterbury, charged with multiple thefts and fraud

A man has appeared in court charged with multiple thefts and fraud in Canterbury - including stealing hanging baskets from outside a pub.

Joe Scott, of Bingley Court in the city, was arrested last Wednesday and appeared at Folkestone Magistrates' Court on Friday accused of burgling a house in the St Dunstan's area and stealing a laptop and bank cards.

He also faces five counts of fraud in relation to the use of stolen bank cards to buy alcohol, cigarettes and scratchcards, three counts of shoplifting, and one of stealing hanging baskets from outside the Maiden's Head pub in Wincheap.

The 33-year-old was remanded in custody to appear before Canterbury Crown Court on Monday, August 22.
