Millfield Football Club win Catling Cup to complete Sunday double

Third

Millfield open the scoring in their 3-2 Catling Cup final win over Chimney Boy at Winch's Field

Third division champions Millfield completed a Herne Bay and Whitstable Sunday League double, securing a 3-2 Catling Cup final victory over Chimney Boy with goals from Russell Laker (2) and Joseph Gander.

Although Chimney finished 15 points behind Millfield in Division 3, they gave the champions a run for their money with goals from Jordon Laurence and Jamie Drake.

Rising Sun suffered the disappointment of conceding a late goal against Waterfront to lose the Challenge Cup final – their second cup final in successive weeks.

Division 1 leaders Waterfront proved more than a match for the top side in the league, giving as good as they got throughout the game.

Both sides had squandered a number of chances, but with 88 minutes on the clock Anthony Leas managed to squeeze the ball home to give Waterfront the lead.
