Jenny Hall scored twice as Canterbury Ladies won 4-1 at Clifton to move into third place in the England Hockey League Women’s Premier Division on Saturday.

Hall put them in front seven minutes before half-time, and doubled the lead in the second half, with Kirsty Chambers and Hayley Brown adding the others as three goals came in the space of 12 minutes.

There were mixed fortunes for Canterbury's men at the weekend – beaten 4-0 at home by East Grinstead in the Premier Division on Saturday, before winning 4-1 at Bromley/Beckenham in the second round of the National Cup on Sunday

Canterbury never recovered from going 3-0 down against Grinstead inside the opening 16 minutes, the visitors adding the fourth two minutes after the break.

Luke Wicken, Richard Warington, Evan Farrell and Leigh Barrett were the scorers as the Polo Farm club eased into the next round of the cup the following day.
