The New York Dolls will headline at Lounge on the Farm

Punk legends New York Dolls are the final stellar act to light up the Lounge on the Farm’s three-day feast of music next month.

The band's 1970s albums set the mark for a legion of musicians to follow under the punk banner, and the seminal quintet will headline at Canterbury’s Merton Farm on Saturday, July 12.

Organisers say they are delighted to secure a band cited by The Sex Pistols and The Clash as major influences.

Famed for their extravagant and raucous performances, David Johansen, Sylvain Sylvain and crew are set to plough through the old classics like Trash and Jet Boy, as well as tracks from their recent album, One Day It Will Please Us to Remember Even This.

The third year of the Lounge has seen it grow again to snare acts including The Coral, Mystery Jets, Bonobo, The Bees, Black Kids, Art Brut and and Lightspeed Champion.

A dance tent will see live sets from former Dexys Midnight Runner, Kevin Rowland, Terry Hall (The Specials), DJ Format, Jon Carter & Midfield General.

Seven stages will swarm with over 170 acts with revellers enjoying the best of Kentish food, drink and farmyard.

Lounge on the Farm is from July 11-13.
