Soldier on explosives charges remanded

A SOLDIER accused of conspiring to possess explosives has been remanded in custody following a brief appearance at Canterbury Crown Court today.

Sgt Kieran Campbell, 27, was due to appear with Garry Graham, 36, but Col Sgt Graham, who is also in custody, was delayed getting to court and matters were heard in his absence.

It is alleged they conspired to possess explosives between October 31, 2007 and February 16 this year.

The court was told a third man has also been arrested in relation to the same matter and will appear at Canterbury Crown Court on Friday.

A plea and case management hearing was fixed for May 6 and a provisional trial date set for July 29, but Judge Timothy Nash expressed concerns about any future trial being heard at Canterbury Crown Court because of the court's close links with Howe Barracks and said the matter would have to be discussed.
