St Lawrence homes 'not affected by housing slump'

A developer calling a halt to new housing sites is unlikely to affect the £10m scheme for St Lawrence Cricket Ground.

Persimmon Homes PLC - the country's largest house builder and Kent County Cricket Club's preferred construction partner - has said it is not developing new sites.

The company has suffered a 24 per drop in sales so far this year while its sales revenue forecast for the year has dropped to £1.37 billion.

Kent chief executive Paul Millman said: “As far as we are concerned this development is already in progress, it’s not a brand new build starting from scratch."

Persimon plans 70 homes at St Lawrence.
