A sought-after film poster of Lord of the Rings signed by the whole cast is among memorabilia and other personal belongings of Canterbury-born star Orlando Bloom, which are being auctioned off in the city for local charities.

They are being sold by his mother Sonia Copeland-Bloom, who is having a clear-out in preparation for moving out of her city centre home to a new house in Tyler Hill.

Among the more interesting items of clothing is a Bodyline wet suit which Orlando wore while surfing with the Hobbits in New Zealand, in between filming the Lord of the Rings trilogy.

Other desirable objects include a Lord of the Rings poster signed by the Hobbits, boots Orlando wore while filming Lord of the Rings and Moroccan slippers he wore in Kingdom of Heaven.

Mrs Copeland-Bloom said: "I have spoken to Orlando who is quite happy for me to get as much as I can for charity. There are some real collectors’ items among them and they will all be authenticated by me by letter."

The sale collection starts with items from Orlando’s school days at St Edmund’s, including a Yonex badminton racquet and Yamaha and Prince tennis racquets.

There are size 42 Puma, Adidas and Pegasus trainers, black suede loafers by Patrick Cox, loafers by Guy Laroche and Gucci and red and white London Fly shoes, sized 41.

There is also a Lacoste polo shirt, a navy hooded waterproof Gap jacket and a blue Louis Vuitton Cup waterproof top.

Mrs Copeland-Bloom said: "The money we raise will be divided between four charities, UNESCO for a school in Nepal, which is sponsored by Orlando, the New Marlowe Theatre Appeal, the local cancer charity Odyssey and the UKC Music Scholarships.

"We are inviting people to send us bids of which the top ones will be invited to view the items before submitting a further sealed bid.

"They should be sent to my secretary, Jo Walker, at 6 St Alphege Lane, Canterbury, CT1 2EB or emailed to scjc1@btinternet.com"
