Cyclist hurt in collision with car in Upper Bridge Street, Canterbury

A boy suffered a head injury after he collided with a car while riding a bike.

The teenager was cycling in Upper Bridge Street near Canterbury Fire Station at about 5pm yesterday when the accident took place.

Ambulances were sent to the scene.

South East Coast Ambulance Service spokesman Richard Airey said: "Ambulance crews attended the scene and assessed and treated the cyclist, before he was taken to William Harvey Hospital for further checks.

"He was conscious en-route to hospital but he did suffer an injury to the head."

Police also attended the scene and temporarily closed the road, but it was reopened by 6pm.

A spokesman said the boy's injuries were not described as serious.
