Celebrity money expert Martin Lewis was spotted filming his Money Show television series in Canterbury today.

The finance guru, who runs the Money Saving Expert consumer website and regularly appears on ITV's This Morning, spent the afternoon filming in the Whitefriars Arcade.

Earlier this week, ITV put out an appeal for Canterbury people struggling with Christmas finance to take part in the show.

Yesterday, Mr Lewis tweeted: "I'm off to Canterbury tomorrow to meet Justin Welby. I suppose that makes us the bishop and the credit card tart!"

People took to the social networking site today to say they had seen him and his camera crew in the Whitefriars shopping precinct.

Lisa Jones said: "I just seen @MartinSLewis in BHS Canterbury talking about socks!? Once I realised it was you I couldn't find you again! I wanted to say hi!"

Canterbury College's Students Union also tweeted the celeb to invite him to have breakfast at their campus while he was in the city.

He politely declined, telling them his filming schedule was too tight.

The Money Show will return to TV screens on Tuesday, November 12 at 8pm, with the "Twelve Saves of Christmas".

Then in January, the series will return with advice to help shoppers tackle their "New Year money hangover".
