The Thanet Way had to be closed for more than an hour on Monday morning, as heavy sleet made the rush hour into work treacherous.

A Peugeot 206 and Renault Twingo collided on the London-bound carriageway near St Nicholas-at-Wade around 7.30am. The Peugeot collided with a central reservation before the Renault collided with it moments later.

Female drivers in both vehicles were treated at the scene by ambulance crews for minor injuries.

Motorists were thanked for their patience, but advised to avoid the area if possible.
