Whitstable Town's relegation battle gained intensity with a 3-0 defeat to Ryman League Division 1 South play-off chasers Godalming at the KRBS Belmont on Saturday.

After an even and goalless first half, the visitors took the lead on 55 minutes after some sloppy marking from the Oystermen defence.

Town striker Stuart Vahid (pictured) appeared to be hauled down when clean through soon after, but no foul was given and the visitors capitalised, netting from the spot moments later for a 2-0 lead.

Stephen Lloyd inadvertantly turned the ball into his own net for the third and the defeat, coupled with Walton Casuals' 1-0 win at Chatham, left the Oystermen rock-bottom of the table, but only in the bottom two on goal-difference, with three games in hand on the sides above them.
