Whitstable's 2-1 victory at Ramsgate on Tuesday night was tempered by the fact that three players who took part look set to miss the weekend derbies against Maidstone and Folkestone.

Manager Justin Luchford (pictured) hailed the victory as fantastic, but was left counting the cost with injuries to Marc Cumberbatch, Dan Wisker and Gary Sayer.

Cumberbatch and Steven Lloyd hobbled out of the game at Southwood, after Sayer and Wisker started the game nursing knocks and with Lloyd rated only 50-50, the injury crisis has forced Luchford to try and draft in two defenders this week.

While not writing off two Kent derbies, Luchford says his priority is to have a fully-fit squad for the trip to Walton & Hersham on Saturday week.

He said: "We will go to Maidstone and Folkestone and give our all but to have any chance there we need to have a full team available.

"Both are in the top five, with Maidstone back to form, while Folkestone are flying. It’s a case of patching people up and then getting all the players fit and healthy for the following week."

The Oystermen also had defender Shane Hamshare sent off at Ramsgate for two yellow cards.

Town are away to Maidstone on Saturday before playing host to Folkestone on Monday.
